FAMU AL LAWSON CENTER

The Al Lawson Center is primarily an educational facility for Florida A&M University. It houses four basketball/volleyball courts on the arena floor, several classrooms, a computer lab, a human performance laboratory, a hydrotherapy room featuring a Swimex therapeutic pool and sports training area, and the 3,000 square foot HPER fitness center. The center also hosts faculty and department offices.

The Al Lawson Center hosts FAMU Convocations and Commencement Exercises. It is also the home of the Rattler Men’s and Women’s basketball teams and volleyball home games. The main arena features bleacher seating for 8,470 people, a video scoreboard and a first-class arena sound system. Other facility features include an 80-person banquet room overlooking the arena, a dance studio with sprung floor, meeting rooms, interview rooms and classrooms that may be converted into sky boxes.

When not in use for instructional or athletic purposes, the Lawson Center is made available for other events. These events include concerts, various entertainment, and athletic tournaments....and hosting home games for the Tallahassee Vipers!
