
SOCIAL MEDIA ASSISTANT INTERNSHIP
Job Description
The Vipers are currently seeking a Social Media Assistant that is highly motivated, a creative individual, with a passion for connecting with current and future fans. This position has the responsibility of building and engaging our community on a daily basis with the ultimate goal of turning casual fans into customers. An essential component is communicating the team’s brand in a positive, authentic way that will attract today’s savvy fans. You would also be responsible for creating a deliberate and intentional social media strategy that delivers results through organic and paid advertising. The strategy will build and grow brand awareness and create a positive online reputation. The social media funnel will cultivate leads that will convert to fans and sales.
We are accepting internship applications for the spring and summer of 2023. Interns will start March 2023 through August 2023. Interns will be asked to work approximately 15 hours/week (flexible schedule).
Responsibilities

Attend all team-focused events, capture live content, and create posts to be used on social media platforms.

Support the needs of the media committee for special projects.

Attend planning meetings with Vipers Media Committee to strategize content creation.

Capture content through video and/or photography at events - events might include guest speakers, workshops, seminars, meetings, or standard classroom events like lectures and demonstrations.

Provide copy and captions for all events, including use of relevant hashtags and tagging.

Help drive engagement on platforms like Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube through consistent and relevant posts about the team and events.

Maintain organized digital library of content that can be utilized in the future.

Manage social media platforms, under the supervision of Media Committee, paying special attention to engagement with followers - responding to comments and engaging with audience to generate more traffic.

Provide insight, suggestions, and feedback as appropriate regarding ways to optimize social media channels and their impact.

Support special projects of the department as it relates to social media and content creation/sharing.

Other projects/duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates with a proven track record and understanding of social media content creation, either personally or professionally.

College students can receive academic credit.

Candidates who have not previously managed professional social media accounts should be able to demonstrate skill and effectiveness in managing their personal accounts, including audience growth and engagement.

Interest in being directly involved with all Vipers events.

Ability to work flexible hours, some nights and weekends for events.

Understand that the Tallahassee Vipers is a new, growing organization and is willing to put in extra time to complete tasks on time.
